Deuteronomy 4:31

For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath.

Yahweh is a holy judge who zealously yearns for the welfare of His chosen people, but if they turn from Him, and He disciplines them, He will afterward have compassion on them. The promise that God would “not fail” or “destroy” His people, or “forget His covenant” with them, indicates the extent of His love for Israel.

It’s not enough to just know about God’s mercy. It’s up to us to take hold of it and claim it. Notice that it requires a physical act on our part before God saves us. Many times Satan will tell us that we’re too bad to come to God. That there’s no way God can love us after what we’ve done. This is a lie straight from the pit of hell! Yes, it’s true that none of us deserve to go to heaven but that’s why Jesus came and died on the cross! If we repent and turn our backs on sin, God is faithful and will forgive us. Don’t ever let Satan make you feel guilty. Remember: Conviction is from the Holy Spirit. Condemnation is from Satan.

Memory Verse: Deuteronomy 4:24

“I sought to hear the voice of God and climbed the topmost steeple, but God declared: “Go down again – I dwell among the people.”
