DON’T BE ANXIOUS TO TOUCH

February 18, 2017

Saturday

Numbers 4:15

“When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, when the camp is to set out, after that the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them, so that they will not touch the holy objects and die. These are the things in the tent of meeting which the sons of Kohath are to carry.

LESSON

The Kohathites who included Moses, Aaron, and the priests  were in charge of the tabernacle furniture , including the “ark.” God told them how to prepare the various pieces of furniture for travel, and how to “carry” them. The priests wrapped the articles of furniture, except the laver, in various, specially prescribed “scarlet” and “blue cloths” and or “porpoise skins,” and then the other Kohathites carried them.

The service of God requires the best of our strength, and the prime of our time, which cannot be better spent than to the honor of him who is the first and best. And a man may make a good soldier much sooner than a good minister.

The truth is that all work in the kingdom of God is royal service, however unostentatious and, from the human standpoint, lowly and insignificant. Self-serving ideas and deeds have no place before God. We don’t need to do something spectacular to please God and receive His blessings, or to lead others to Him. All we need to do is to be obedient, and live a life as near to that of Christ’s as we can; and in His pleasure, we will be blessed.

Memory Verse: Isaiah 52:11

Touch seems to be as essential as sunlight
