Ephesians 6:24

Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love.

God’s “grace” is the key to both the calling of the Christian and the creation of the church. It is also essential to the conduct of the Christian. Paul wished God’s unmerited favor and divine enablement on “all those who love” Jesus Christ purely, without wrong motives or secret disloyalties. As God has poured out His grace to us in all purity, so we should pour out our love to Him in purity.

“Ephesians is ultimately about how God has powerfully equipped the church to experience blessing in Christ, by creating a new community that is able to honor God and resist the forces of evil. No longer does one’s Jewish or Gentile identity dominate. They are part of a new, reconciled community, a reconciliation that involves not only God but also one another.

Paul calls Christians to utilize the most powerful ‘spiritual weapon’ they possess: prayer. Never take for granted the victory over sin that Christ has won for us. Never underestimate the devil. He’ll oppose us at every opportunity. Never give up in the fight against sin and evil. But always remember the power of God and the armor with which he has given us. Encouraging others will help in the spiritual battle against the tide of discouragement.
