Ecclesiastes 3:11

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

God’s plan is unfathomable. Nevertheless, God has an appropriate time for every activity. God has also placed within the heart of every person a sense of something eternal and a desire to know the eternal significance of what we do. The idea of a timeless, ideal state is Platonic, not biblical. We cannot grasp fully all of God’s plans. Consequently, because we cannot see the full consequences of our works beyond the grave, our labor lacks ultimate gratification.

On our life’s journey we’ll face many different situations, experience many different experiences, and meet many different people. Sometimes we have gains, and we laugh. Sometimes we have losses, and we cry. To some people, the world is a dark and difficult experience. But in the midst of their frustration, there is the hint of eternity that makes them hope that there is something more than they are presently experiencing.
