Zechariah 3:2

The LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”

The LORD” then spoke to the accuser, citing His own authority as “the LORD (Yahweh) who had chosen Jerusalem. Joshua was secure from Satan’s accusations because of the Lord’s sovereign choice of Jerusalem. The Lord rebuked Satan twice, the repetition adding force to the initial rebuke . The Lord then referred to Joshua as a burning stick “plucked from the fire,” evidently for His future use.

Satan takes our sins and prosecutes them before the Lord, making his case that we are neither worthy of salvation nor able to be servants to God. Here the LORD rebukes Satan and gives the representative of the people, & thus the people, full & final acceptance. God has a divine appointment for his people. He will set the crooked road straight, hold our hand in times of trouble and lead us toward a path of righteousness.
