Proverbs 28:13

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

Trying to cover up one’s sins, rather than confessing and forsaking them, will not work. They destroy the sinner like a cancer, and they incur the judgment of God. “Confess” and “forsake” summarize what the Bible means by repentance. Adam and Eve tried to hide from God. Genuine repentance, however, elicits God’s favor and often the respect of others. David’s life illustrates both. This unique proverb speaks of God’s mercy and defines true repentance.

We have all made mistake and bad decision in life. Many are under the misconception that they can get away with trying to hide their sin from God. Both God and men cover sin. The choice is not whether to deal with sins or not, but to deal with them either wisely or foolishly.
