Romans 8:6

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

To be thus minded is life and peace; or the life of true piety is a life of peaceful pleasure. A life of holiness is calculated to fill the mind with the richest enjoyment, and raise it to its highest state of improvement. The objects of contemplation that lie before the believing mind are dignified and worthy its occupancy.

A “mind set on” following “the flesh” concentrates on and desires the things of the flesh. The end of that attitude is ultimately “death.” However, a “mind set on” yielding to “the Spirit” will

experience “life and peace.” Peace with God seems to be in view here. Yet whenever there is peace with God, peace with other people normally follows.

Memory Verse: Psalm 37:5
