Psalm 51:8-9

Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that You have broken rejoice.  Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.

David’s prayer for restoration included requests for God’s forgiveness, a renewal of his joy, and a heart of wisdom and full restoration to divine favor. David’s fractured relationship with God pained him as much as a broken bone.

Sometimes when we sin we feel that it is too big and we get discouraged and begin to feel low. It is only by admitting our guilt, confessing it and receiving God’s forgiveness that we can move on to overcome it in our lives. Life is filled with challenges. Sometimes along the way, we can lose our way and in the process, for one reason or another, we lose our joy and strength, among other things. God promises to restore if we let Him. When joy and gladness are lacking it can be evidence of broken spiritual bones.

Memory Verse: 1 John 1:9
