Matthew 15:7-9

Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

This is the first time Jesus called the Pharisees and teachers of the law “hypocrites. Their hypocrisy consisted of making a show of commitment to God, while at the same time giving human “tradition” precedence over God’s Word.

The Bible teaches that what is in the heart determines what a man is. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issue of life. If our actions do not support our words then it would be better if we remain silent, for what we do does speak so loud that the world cannot hear what we say.

Memory Verse: 1 John 2:9
