Matthew 2:13

And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

“American history shall march along that skyline,” announced Gutzon Borglum in 1924, gazing at the Black Hills of South Dakota. In 1927 Borglum began sculpting the images of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt on the granite face of 6,000-foot Mount Rushmore. Most of the sculpting was done by experienced miners under Borglum’s direction. Working with jackhammers and dynamite, they removed some 400,000 tons of outer rock, cutting within three inches of the final surface. When Borglum died in March 1941, his dream of the world’s biggest sculpture was near completion. His son Lincoln finished the work that October, some 14 years after it was begun.

One of the key things that we need to realize when we are seeking out and following God’s guidance is that we cannot pick and choose what we want. We can’t tell God that we will follow His guidance in one aspect of our lives and not another.  It’s an all or nothing deal. Or when we pick and choose we miss out on all that God has in store for us. And what God has in mind for us may not always be what we have in mind for ourselves.  God may give us guidance that we do not like.  In those situations is where our faith comes into play.  I’m sure Joseph didn’t really want to flee by night into Egypt, but he took Gods guidance and by faith made the trip.  Sometimes God asks us to do the same.

Are you wondering what life has in store for you? No matter the circumstances in life God will give us guidance; however we must be willing to seek out His guidance and follow it no matter the circumstances, are you willing to follow Jesus, to look to Him for guidance in your own life. All that he desires is a personal relationship with you. He promises that He will lead and guide you all you have to do is come to Him.
